Media soiree uncovers hidden gem of the North West
UPFRONT, news, night online, COMMENTS
Manchester bar/restaurant Obsidian has stepped out of the shadows with an aggressive re-launch campaign underpinned by a revitalised menu and new head chef. The Princess Street venue in the city centre held a media soiree to introduce top journalists and editors to the delights of its cocktails and canapés.
New head chef Bryn Evans has created a seasonal menu with the very best locally sourced produce and seasonal ingredients.
Obsidian challenges the notion of traditional British food and believes that it should evolve and adapt, which is why there are many dishes on the menu that are exquisitely experimental with great attention to detail. Dishes on the winter menu consist of roasted quail with risotto cake, pancetta, melon relish and sage, roasted venison with chocolate, beetroot and potato confit, pork belly with squash and vegetables, wild sea bass with a wild mushroom foam, Jerusalem artichoke and white beans.
The basement level venue is situated below the Arora Hotel and features a mix of luxurious leather booths, mahogany and redwood flooring and panelling, which is enhanced by dramatic mood lighting. The opulent curtains separate areas of the restaurant, making Obsidian the perfect venue for discreet dining with private and semi private spaces available for corporate events, special occasions and even Christmas parties.
A back-lit neon bar is also a big draw in its own right, offering a fantastic cocktail menu which changes seasonally, a vast wine and champagne cellar and an unrivalled selection of premium spirits, some of which are not available anywhere else in the North of England. Chilled-out music creates a relaxing vibe, making Obsidian the ideal choice for a relaxed meal, a night of fun filled cocktails or a romantic soiree.
