Big Dance 08 culminates in 'silent rave'
UPFRONT, news, night online, COMMENTS
Jazzie B, legendary producer and founding member of Soul II Soul, will be hosting a silent disco in Trafalgar Square from 6pm on Sunday 6 July.
Thousands of people are expected to gather, quietly, for the 'silent rave' – a dance party without audible music to the passer-by.
Revellers are being asked to tune in to BBC London 94.9FM via portable radios and dance along with their earphones.
Jazzie B said: "This should be such a cool event – people shimmying away while passers-by look on, agog.
"Maybe some of the onlookers will get involved – sharing headphones to enjoy the vibe is what I'd like this event to be all about."
Jazzie B's unique set is part of Big Dance 08, a festival of events to get the capital grooving.
BBC London 94.9's King of the Jungle, Christopher Biggins and Birds of a Feather star, Lesley Joseph, are also on hand between 2-3pm compering lots of other exciting dance activities.
