Pacha to return on 10 October
UPFRONT, news, night online, COMMENTS
Billy Reilly’s Pacha nightclub in Victoria will open on 10 October, according to the venue. The venue was closed on 21 September following a police search during operating hours, and the management has entered voluntarily into a licence review procedure.
A statement from the club says: “Pacha management are actively taking part and supporting Westminster licensing on a review of the venue’s licence and conditions. During this review we will remain closed and are due to reopen and operate as usual on Friday 10 October.”
The police raid involved a search of 200 people, while four were arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply, three on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs and three for other offences.
Pacha's owner, Billy Reilly, said: "Pacha was stripped and searched for drugs and found to be clean".
The statement on the club's website goes on: "This is a massive shock to the management and staff of the club as we have worked closely with Belgravia police and never had reason to believe we had a drug problem within the venue.
"For over 15 years the Pacha group have worked closely with the police and councils to deter drug use in the venues.
"This lack of trust and heavy-handed approach has done nothing to stop drug dealing in clubs but drives a wedge between the police, public and management."

Typical heavyhanded policing.... why dont the strip down the accounts of any number of government ministers - I'll bet they will find more serious breaches of UK law and it may keep them out of our clubs! Is it illegal to enjoy a decent night out now?
