UPFRONT, news, night online, COMMENTS
The completion of the first stage of Liverpool’s Concert Steps development was heralded this weekend with a huge opening party at new club Cube. The venue, a warehouse conversion on Seel Street, is a 2,000 capacity super venue, bristling with bars, restaurants, cafes and VIP areas.
Cube's official opening took place on Friday with a showcase of talent from Radio City’s new Friday Nights in the City club night, including DJs Kev seed and Simon ross.
Director of Cube Alan Rogers said yesterday: “We are very happy with the finished look. The club will offer something totally different that Liverpool has not seen before.
“We have drafted in consultants from London to help create the menu in our restaurant, the food is fantastic.
“Our lighting design and sound system cannot be rivalled in Liverpool and the equipment is only in place in a few places across the UK.
“I have been working on the project for 18 months and it has been well worth the effort.”
The regeneration project, which will link Concert Square with the gateway to Liverpool One, involves the creation of a pedestrian route from Fleet Street to Seel Street, and has seen the grade II listed building clad with new glass and steel construction.
Around 150 jobs have been created by the opening of Cube and it is hoped the development will bring money into the area. According to the Cube website, the venue offers:
“Jaw dropping interior design adds to the atmosphere, ambience and overall experience.
Cube guarantees to bring you only the very finest and most in demand DJ´s and live PA´s. All supported by our glamourous cage dancers, vodka ice luges, dry ice cannons and futuristic laser light show.
Level 2´s music policy is uplifting funky house, dirty electro, classic house and dance anthems.
Level 1 focuses on sexy, stylish r´n´b and urban grooves.
Further to this the ground floor will be hosting a selection of DJ´s most nights of the week playing indie, funk, soul, disco, old skool hip hop and bar grooves.”
