UPFRONT, news, night online, COMMENTS
Academy Music Group have announced plans for a second venue in Leeds, situated directly below the main Academy. An integral part of AMG’s £4,500,000 project, Underground is a 400 capacity space featuring a Turbosound Aspect PA, state of the art lighting rig, DJ booth and A/V equipment.
Perfectly positioned to host the hottest club nights in the city from mid-October, the venue will also act as a pre and post bar for Leeds Academy gigs and function as an additional area for club events in the main room.
AMG have secured an impressive list of DJs at Academy venues across the country for after-show parties, with the likes of Vampire Weekend and Foals stepping off of the stage and getting behind the decks. Leeds Academy already has an outstanding line up in place and looks set to extend this into the realms of its club nights with hot new residencies on the horizon.
A contemporary twist to AMG’s venue portfolio, Underground boasts two bars, seated areas, cloakroom, toilets and multiple screens to relay the live show from Leeds Academy, Underground will open from 6pm (check listings for details) for main room gigs, with after parties featuring specialist DJs and guests on rotation.
Full details and club residencies to be announced in due course.
