new lynnet club gets tannoy v-series
technology, news, march 2007, COMMENTS
About to open in Glasgow’s constantly expanding Royal Exchange Square complex is a stylish new nightclub White Orchid. The club was previewed at Christmas and although an immediate and lively success in the height of the party season the venue is being given a touch up ahead of normal trading. The revamped venue will have added style and personality and will ultimately be positioned as a VIP club for the outstandingly successful One Up bar that it immediately adjoins.
White Orchid is more than just a dance-based nightclub. The venue will have a hybrid feel, with an extensive seating and table arrangement, and will offer a comprehensive champagne list and spirits by the bottle.
As with the rest of the multi-venue complex the sound quality is vitally important. Bryce Keachie of Glasgow based Keachie Electronics Sound Installations has installed a selection of Tannoy V-Series full range loudspeakers and subwoofers driven by Camco Tectron amplification. It is hoped that the new club will be ready in around six to eight weeks.
One Up has proved so popular that a virtual mirror image of the original bar has been created in an area of the same building that runs parallel to it. The two One Up areas are divided by an exterior smoking section but cleverly arranged to allow the latest One Up to be kept separate if required for private functions.
Says Michael Bergson, Business Development Director of Lynnet Leisure: “We have been very careful to make sure that none of the venues at Royal Exchange Square cancel each other out. The White Orchid has a very different feel to the Karbon nightclub. It will consist of a much more intricate design compared with Karbon’s raw underground feel. The idea is to provide a dancing area for customers at One Up.”
Keachie have installed a full compliment of six Tannoy V12HP and six Tannoy V15 full range loudspeakers, as well as four Tannoy V15HL and four Tannoy VS18DR Subwoofers. A VNe12 HP has also been used as a moniter in the DJ booth.
