fogscreen target nightclubs
technology, news, february 2007, COMMENTS
Fogscreen have renewed their intention to become the most dominant design feature in UK clubbing scene following the successful installation of fogscreens at New York nightclub Myst, and permanent installations in other entertainment markets, not least the MGM Grand and the Hurrrah club in Las Vegas.
Speaking to NIGHT MD Mika Koivula outlined his ambitions for the kit, whose enlarged screen sizes and interconnectivity between units have paved the way for large scale installations of wall to wall fog based projector screens.
“The fogscreen has found a natural home in nightclubs, where big installations in American superclubs have created marketing opportunities and unique visual and interactive entertainment on an unparalleled level. We’ve recently added to the systems, making more powerful units and providing larger, bespoke screens that can be linked together to make large displays. We have also, where requested, introduced third party technology into the screens to make them interactive. We have incorporated various graphic elements that causes animations to interact with people as they pass through the fog screen.”
“Previously, retailers have shown the most interest in the fogscreen as a means to capture audiences using experiential marketing, rather than traditional marketing tools like printed or broadcast media. Now, more and more designers are asking us about the fogscreen and how they can integrate it into their venue, and we are happy to discuss the various options.”
