cobra beer named london film festival sponsor

29 May 2007: The British Film Institute (BFI) has announced Cobra as the new Official Beer Partner for The Times BFI London Film Festival 2007. The announcement was made at the Cannes Reception for The Times BFI 51st London Film Festival at the Hilton Cannes Hotel.

Cobra takes over from Stella Artois, who had been the Official Beer Partner at The Times BFI London Film Festival for the previous five years. This year’s Festival takes place from 17th October – 1st November, 2007.

As the Official Beer Partner, Cobra will supply their range of products to up to 30 participating bar and cinema venues across London, which will host around 380 film screenings and special events over the course of the two week Festival. In supporting the Festival, Cobra also plans to run related on-trade promotions and consumer activity on their CobraVision website.

After the announcement, Clare Diskin, Acting Director of Development at the BFI said: "We are thrilled to have developed our ongoing relationship with Cobra Beer to incorporate The Times BFI London Film Festival. We’ve worked with Cobra over the past two years on a range of projects, and they’ve continually demonstrated their commitment and passion to supporting international film culture. This year’s 51st Festival will be a fabulous event and we are delighted to have the support of our friends at Cobra. We’re sure their award-winning beer will prove popular with our audiences.”

Zoe Smith, Marketing Manager of Cobra Beer added: “Becoming the Official Beer Supplier for The Times BFI London Film Festival is great for Cobra and shows the progress we have made as a brand over the past few years in becoming a respected, active supporter of British film-making. As arguably the most important event in the British film calendar, this is a tremendous place for us to showcase our products and show our continued support to the film industry in the UK.”
