United drinks aim to beat smoking ban with Liquid Smoking

A Dutch company claims it has the answer to the smoking ban. United Drinks and Beauty Corporation are launching ‘Liquid Smoking’, a beverage aiming to replicate the sensation of smoking.
The drink contains a “south African herb used by bushmen since the 14th century” in lieu of nicotine, according to its inventor Martin Hartman. Although the exact identity of said herb remains a mystery, it’s claimed to have similar properties to tobacco whilst also being non-additive. "It is a relaxing drink - it gives a similar affect to smoking. It will take the edge off of a need for nicotine for between one to four hours." Said Hartman.
The red and white cans, featuring a possibly spurious 'no warning needed' message, are designed to look like a packet of cigarettes. The reaction of anti-smoking groups is mixed at best, "Our concern would be if the packaging led to the promotion of cigarettes," said Deborah Arnott of Action on Smoking and Health.
United Drinks aim for Liquid Smoking to be seen not only as a substitute for smoking, but to used as a mixer for spirits. This will see it competing both with other tobacco replacements and energy drinks such as red bull.
NIGHT understands that manufacturers United Drinks and Beauty Corporation are looking for distributors to the on trade ahead of Christmas.
