Liquid assets , drinks news, night online, COMMENTS
Cobra Beer has made strong inroads into the UK on-trade channel in 2008 adding over 4,500 new accounts in the first six months of the year. Cobra has been particularly successful in targeting style-bars nationwide with a listing across the Fat Cat Café Bars 11 outlets a recent highlight among the prestigious listings gleaned by Cobra’s sales team.
Other prestige accounts added by Cobra so far this year include the Mix Bars in Reading and Winchester, Korova and Noir in Liverpool and latest celebrity favourite - Kingdom, 23 Bar & Restaurant in Sheffield and Bar Eleven in Nottingham. These join Cobra’s listings at high-end London venues the Kingly Club, Number One Leicester Square and the Green Carnation.
Justin Cooper, Group Marketing Manager, Fat Cat Group, comments: “Cobra's advertising campaign and their on-site sampling activity has really turned heads and demonstrates the brand’s commitment to growing their presence in bars. It’s not only the trade that have been impressed though; since stocking Cobra we’ve also had a lot of positive feedback from our consumers who have welcomed finding Cobra in bars. Cobra is going from strength to strength and is definitely one of the beer brands to watch in the next few years.”
Cobra, already one of the UK’s fastest-growing beer brands, is aiming to become a top 10 premium lager brand in the next three years. To help achieve this target, Cobra has launched its biggest-ever integrated ‘Now you’re talking’ campaign as part of a £14 million marketing spend. The brand is investing heavily in nationwide sampling to drive trial and rate of sale. Cobra has also recently unveiled a new design across its bottles and has further designs planned for a new draught font and branded glassware.
