Pierhead Purchasing Launches Authentic Mexican Cerveza

03 July 2007: Imported Beer specialist Pierhead Purchasing is adding to its Latin beer offering with Mexican brewed-at-source cerveza, Mexicali.
Pierhead has already enjoyed considerable success with its Central and South American premium beer brands, including Quilmes from Argentina and Lokal from Brazil, and is confident that Mexicali will satisfy the growing number of discerning lager drinkers in the UK.
Mexicali is still brewed at the Cervecería Mexicana Brewery in Tecate, Mexico, where it all began in 1923. The brewery was founded by a group of entrepreneurs, including a German master brewer, whose techniques have been followed ever since. Thanks to its close proximity to the US border, Mexicali became popular with Americans during prohibition in the early 20th century.
Since then Mexicali has become one of the region’s most successful beer brands. With its unique brewing heritage and stylish presentation, Mexicali now offers licensees in the UK the perfect opportunity to extend their beer offering with a highly drinkable and distinctive lager.
A German style pilsner, Mexicali is brewed in small batches, and takes its golden, straw-like colour and crisp flavour from the two row barley malt used in the brewing process. The red, white and green label depicting the Mexican flag offers distinctive on-shelf standout and communicates the brand’s authentic Mexican heritage.
